Abstract

1,255,581. Polyolefin compositions. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES OF AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND Ltd. 18 Feb., 1970 [20 Feb., 1969], No. 7789/70. Heading C3P. Thermoplastic compositions comprise (1) a major proportion by weight of low density polyethylene having a density of 0.914 to less than 0.930 g/c.c. and a melt flow index of 0.05 to 10.0, (2) 5 to 15 weight per cent of high density polyethylene having a density of 0.930 to 0.97 g/c.c. and a melt flow index of 0À1 to 10À0 and made with a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound and (3) 1 to 5 weight per cent of isotactic polypropylene. The high density polyethylene may be a homopolymer or copolymer with higher olefins such as propylene and butene. The compositions may also comprise conventional ingredients, e.g. pigments, and may be used for insulating electrical conductors by extrusion coating.
