Abstract

1,255,230. Rotary pumps. STOTHERT & PITT Ltd. Dec. 19, 1969, No. 61941/69. Heading F1F. In a rotary helical screw pump comprising a resilient stator member S having internal threads 1 for co-operation with a rotor member (not shown), the end-face of the stator is formed with an annular bead 2 having axially projecting tongues for sealing engagement in an annular groove 5 of a mating component M of the pump casing which casing also includes a rigid tube C supporting the stator. On sealing engagement the tongues 3 engage both the bottom and sides of the groove 5. In another embodiment, the tube C is omitted, and the stator is formed with a flange intermediate its ends with the flange formed with an axially directed bead having tongues which again sealingly engage in a groove in a mating part of the pump casing. The flange may be supported by a rigid surrounding bush.
