Abstract
1,255,087. Time switches. SIEMENS A.G. 30 Oct., 1969 [31 Oct., 1968], No. 53310/69. Heading H1N. A programme carrier in the form of a drum 1 formed integrally with one or more cam surfaces 2 for the operation of switch contacts (not shown) and having one or more contact tracks 7, 8, 9 engaged by wiper contacts (not shown), the tracks having interruption zones and conductive zones, is characterized by the interruption zones being so formed that they are stronger, or less weakening of the conductive material 4 providing the conductive zones, than in prior art carriers, without rendering the interruption zones non-interruptive. The interruption zones comprise coverings 5 of plastics material on the conductive material 4 or comprise apertures 10 with one or more narrow transverse bridges 11 of conductive material to strengthen the conductive material 4 at the interruption zones. The carrier is made by bending an apertured foil 4 to form a cylinder, placing it into a suitably recessed mould, and then injection moulding to produce the cam drum 1 with cam rings 2 and internal ridges 3 and with the foil 4 situated therebetween so as to be partly exposed for engagement by wiper contacts (not shown) between the cam rings 2. The programme carrier is used in control devices of washing machines and dish-washing machines.
