Abstract
1,253,548 Benzylidene-aminoguanidine derivatives. SANDOZ Ltd. 30 Dec., 1968 [22 Jan., 1968; 10 July, 1968; 16 Sept., 1968], No. 61608/68. Heading C2C. Novel compounds I: where R 1 and R 2 are H, Cl or F, with the proviso that the benzene ring is at least monosubstituted, are prepared by reacting an appropriate benzaldehyde with 1-amino-3-hydroxy-guanidine or reacting an appropriate benzaldehyde 5-alkylisothiosemicarbazone III: where R 3 is 1-4 C alkyl with hydroxylamine. Compounds III may be prepared by reacting an apropriate thiosemicarbazone with an alkyl halide to give the acid addition salt followed by formation of the free base. The thiosemicarbazones may be prepared by reacting an appropriate benzaldehyde with Pharmaceutical compositions comprise a compound I together with a suitable excipient and have hypotensive activity when administered orally or parenterally.
