Abstract

1,253,509. Switch contacts. BROWN, BOVERI & CO. Ltd. 18 Sept., 1970 [22 Sept., 1969], No. 44697/70. Heading H1N. A rotary contact system comprises fixed contacts 1, 2 arranged to be bridged by a rotary constant composed of a loosely-held stack of contact laminae 5 mounted on a rotatable support 3, 3a, 3b, and each having contactmaking surfaces shaped to engage respective fixed contacts 1, 2 with a wedging action and to be held against fixed contacts 1, 2 by springs 4 acting between laminae 5 and support 3b. Support 3, 3a, 3b is rotated anti-clockwise to make contact and clockwise to break contact. When contact has been made, springs 4 urge laminae 5 anti-clockwise with respect to shaft 3 to maintain contact. The rotary contact can be adjusted for different currents by altering the number of laminae 5 in the stack.
