Abstract

1,253,464. Coated glassware. ROCKWARE GLASS Ltd. 17 June, 1970 [17 June, 1969], No. 30632/69. Heading B2E. Glassware such as bottles is coated after annealing with a non-toxic ester of a C 14-20 fatty acid and a monomeric polyol having 4-7 reactive hydroxyl groups. The ester may be a stearate, particularly pentaerythritol distearate, and may be applied by spraying as an aqueous emulsion. Suitable emulsifying agents are triethanolamine oleate, potassium oleate or a mixture of polyethylene glycol di- and tri-ricinoleates, borax and KOH. The glassware may already be coated with tin or titanium dioxide.
