Biscuits arranged in vertical stacks in magazines 1 arranged across an endless conveyer 5 are discharged singly from each magazine by a reciprocating arm 20 on to a temporary support 36 which subsequently deposits the biscuit on a support surface 25 at the end of its upward movement. For subsequent discharges of the magazines the support surface 25 moves downwardly to form a stack thereon until at its lowermost position the biscuits also rest on a support surface 28 interleaved with the support surface 25 and having an upstanding pusher 26 to advance the biscuits on forward movement of the support surface 28 which also advances a pile of biscuits previously delivered to a support surface 3. On the return upward movement of the support surface 25, to which the support surface 3 is fixed, the said support surface 3 removes the biscuits from the support surface 28 and the cycle is repeated. On advancement of the biscuits from the support surface 3, as described above, the biscuits are placed off-centre on a partition wall 4 so as to fall on edge on to the endless conveyer 5 to be advanced by the flights 6 thereof. The said partition walls 4 converge in the direction of conveyance to combine the series of piles of biscuits into a single pile thereof for feeding to a wrapping machine (not shown).
