Abstract
1,251,249. Hand-cutting tools. J. WISS & SONS CO. 10 June, 1969, No. 29374/69. Heading B4B. A hand tool 10 comprises a pair of pivotably connected blade units 11, 12, each including a recessed body member 13, 14, e.g. of plastics or metal, and a blade member 15, 16 secured in the recess, e.g. by welding. The recesses may be profiled to assist co-operation of the cutting edges of the blades 15, 16 during cutting, and inserts may be provided under the blade members, or the blades may themselves be profiled. The pivot connection may comprise a ball 29 within cavities 21, 22, a screw 23 movable within a slot 24 allowing tightening, while a spring member 27 re-opens the blades after each cutting stroke. Alternatively, Fig. 5 (not shown), the tool may take the form of a pair of scissors, a conventional screw providing the pivot connection.
