A detonator protected against electrostatic discharges, comprises an electrically ignitable primer 2, electrically conductive supply wires 4 and 5, and a sleeve-like metal shield 6 electrically insulated from an outer casing 1, the supply wire 4 being electrically connected to the metal shield. The shield is insulated from the outer casing by a perforated plastics sleeve 7. Electrically insulating lacquer may be provided on the inside surface of the metal shield at least in the region of the supply wire 5, or a plastics sleeve 12 may be provided.
