Abstract
1,250,453. Scaffolding. G. W. WYNN Ltd. 20 Dec., 1968 [9 Oct., 1967; 17 Oct., 1967], Nos. 46056/67 and 47236/67. Addition to 1,036,456. Heading E1S. A scaffold tower is made up from a set of scaffold frames including "standard frames", i.e. frames as defined in the body of the specification and as described in U.K. Specification No. 1,036,456, together with a "stress-inducing frame", whose construction is such that the relative positions and/or orientations of its connecting means differ from them of a "standard frame" so that it is incapable of being incorporated in the tower without the application to it or to another frame of a bending or torsional stress. Each "standard" frame has two spaced apart elongate metal side members, e.g. 8, 9, each of a uniform cross-section substantially throughout its length, and an elongate metal cross-member e.g. 12 interconnecting the side members, and having a uniform cross-section substantially throughout its length, the frame being adapted for cross-wise interconnection with other such frames to form a tower. The "stressinducing frame" may have an inclined central slot (Fig. 5) whereby the cross-wise frame, is forced out of the vertical. Alternatively, the side members may have angled upper ends, (Fig. 3, not shown) which can be forced into sockets at the lower ends of the side members of a vertically adjacent frame. Alternatively, one side member may be inclined, the crossmember being bowed (Fig. 4, not shown). As a further alternative, the cross-wise interconnecting means may be located off-centre of the frame.
