Abstract
124,974. Furness, W. June 17, 1918. Filter-presses.-A filterpress plate is formed of a frame of wooden bars detachably secured together and enclosing a number of corrugated central portions of earthenware &c., which serve to support the cloth and are so formed as to provide transverse draining channels for the escape of the liquid. The frame is built up of four bars A, A<1>, A<2>, A<3> secured together by bolts and nuts 4, 4<a>, so that either of the end bars A, A' can be readily removed to release the central portions B. The joints between the bars are shaped as shown at w, so as to increase the strength of the frame. The corrugated central portions B are formed with tapered upper and lower edges b fitting into grooves a in the bars A<2>, A<3>, Fig. 2. The portions B are also cut away at the bottom to form transverse ducts 5, along which liquid flowing down the corrugations passes to the outlet a<2>. Liquid is supplied to the press in known fashion through passages a<1> formed in the plates and in frames placed between the plates.
