1,249,749. Knife blades for mowers. EISENWERK MILSPE DER SCHAFFGOTSCH BERGWERKSGESELLSCHAFT. 10 Sept., 1970 [11 Sept., 1969], No. 43316/70. Heading A1F. [Also in Division B3] The cutting edges of a knife-blade for use on the reciprocating knife-bar of a mower are formed by one grinding operation. In this instance, a twin knife-blade is produced from a blank having two blade portions 1 joined to a common back 2 provided with rivet holes 3. The blade edges 4 are bent downwards and are ground to give coplanar flat faces 6, offset from the rest of the blank. Embossments 5 may be provided projecting from the underside with a flat ground face 7,'and thus the faces 6, 7 will form a flat bearing surface for the blade to rest on the ledger plate. A rear portion la of the blank may be bent upwards to facilitate the fixing of the blade sections. This method can be used to produce single or multiple blade sections.
