[Also in Division H2] A multi-contact electrical connector comprises a zip-fastener formed with electrical leads 8 attached to some of its teeth. As shown in Fig. 2 flexible insulating strips 1, 2 carry alternate insulating teeth 12 and conducting teeth 10a, 10b, 10c.., 11a, 11b 11c.., and when an insulating slider (5, Fig. 1, not shown) is moved longitudinally between the strips electrical connections are formed at A, B, C, between teeth 10a and 11a, 10b and 11b 10c and 11c, these connections being mutally insulated by teeth 12. The insulating and conducting teeth may be differently disposed; and may be on insulating tooth of one strip disposed between two adjacent conducting teeth of the other strip (Fig. 3, not shown) or all the teeth of one strip may be part insulating and part conducting (Fig. 4, not shown). An insulating covering plate (40, Fig. 5, not shown) may be attached to the slider, or an insulating cover (50, Fig. 6, not shown) may be applied after the contacts are engaged. An insulating plate (60, Fig. 7, not shown) may be integral with one strip and extend under the contacts to allow more than one fastener to be stacked together, or the fasteners may be stacked offset from each other (Fig. 8, not shown). The electrical leads 8 may be attached to strips 1, 2 by embedding the leads in the strips (Fig. 9, not shown) or by interweaving the leads into the cloth from which the strips are made (Fig. 10, not shown).
