Abstract
1,248,486. Control of D.C. motors. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 13 May, 1969 [20 May, 1968], No. 24212/69. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G3] In a D.C. motor speed regulating circuit a plurality of equal resistors 80, 82 provide equal voltage drops, which are a function of the speed error, as inputs to a first set of emitter follower transistors 84, 86 arranged in cascode and whose outputs provide the inputs to a further set of emitter follower transistors 88, 90 also in cascode and in series with the motor armature 12. Transistors 88, 90 equally divide the dissipated power between them. The resistors 80, 82 form the collector load of a transistor amplifier 62 fed by a further amplifier 58 whose base voltage is the difference between the output of a tachogenerator 56 and a reference speed setting voltage derived from a potentiometer 50. The field winding 10 of the motor is separately energized with unsmoothed rectified current. A diode 92 across the motor protects transistors 88, 90 from the inductive surge when the supply is interrupted.
