Abstract

1,248,381. Mixing apparatus. ECONOMICS LABORATORY Inc. 2 Jan., 1970 [6 Jan., 1969], No. 223/70. Heading B1C. Apparatus for preparing a detergent solution comprises a container 10 of powdered detergent mounted on a receptacle 18 with a screen 14 disposed therebetween, the screen 14 being convex with respect to the container 10 and a nozzle 32 being mounted in the receptacle so as to spray water on the undersurface of the screen whereby powdered detergent is dissolved by the water and passes into the receptacle. A pivotally mounted manually operated cradle assembly is provided for inverting the container to its mounted position, Fig. 1 (not shown). A float 38 associated with a mercury switch 41 controls a fresh water inlet valve leading to the nozzle 32 to control the level of solution in the receptacle, and water from a second nozzle 42 prevents detergent precipitating adjacent the float and stopping its operation. A pump is provided for feeding the solution to a dishwasher and circulating the solution in the receptacle, Fig. 7 (not shown), the flow of solution to the dishwasher being automatically controlled by a valve in dependence upon the conductivity of the solution in the dishwasher monitored by a sensor. The screen 14 may be hemispherical, Fig. 6 (not shown).
