Abstract

1,248,187. Aerials. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 20 May, 1970 16 Aug., 1969], No. 24334/70. Heading H4A. In an aerial system comprising a dipole radiator 8 and a parabolic or other main reflector, there is provided a sub-reflector 1 in the form of an open pot. A shallow recess 3 is formed in the closed end of the reflector 1 through which is extended the outer conductor 4 of a coaxial feeder 5 for the dipole 8. The bottom 14 of the recess 3 may be bonded to the outer conductor 4 or an adjustment means 11 may be provided, so that the reflector 1 is movable along the feeder and can be locked in a desired position. It is stated that the arrangement improves impedance matching and the rotational symmetry of the radiation diagram. Satisfactory dimensions in terms of #, the wavelength at the mean operating frequency, are given as: depth and diameter of sub-reflector, #/4 and #, respectively; depth and diameter of recess 0À04# and #/2, respectively.
