Abstract

1,248,179. Blocks. JAHRESUHREN-FABRIK. G.m.b.H. AUG. SCHATZ & SOHNE. March 26, 1970 [April 29, 1969], No. 14737/70. Heading G3T. A drive unit for a clock comprises a tuning fork 11 driven by a coil 13 energized from an electronic amplifier, (not shown), responsive to the output of a feedback coil 14. An escapement 15 co-operates with a bar-shaped permanent magnet 17 secured in a slot in a non-magnetic body 18 secured to a prong 11 of the tuning fork. A similar magnet 20 is symmetrically arranged in a block 21 on the other prong 12 and co-operates with an adjustable slotted pole shoe 19 the air-space between magnet and shoe, being adjusted to compensate for isochronism. Permanent magnets having opposite polarity, are symmetrically mounted within the coils 13, 14 against a notch; the windings of the coils being self-supporting. The drive is stated to be of use for a frequency below 300Hz.
