Abstract

1,248,177. Wear liners in railway truck bolsters. AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc. 25 March, 1970 [1 April, 1960], No. 14436/70. Heading B7L. A recessed centre plate 19 of a railway truck bolster 18 has a wear liner 32 in the form of a ring with a gap 34, the ring's outer surface 38 being tapered and its inner surface 36 being cylindrical. The liner 32 is received in a circular recess 40 of the centre plate, the peripheral wall 42 of the recess being correspondingly inclined to engage the outer surface 38 of the ring. The gap 34 permits the ring to be expanded until it abuts the wall 42 around its entire circumference, the ring-then being welded into position at the gap. A projecting circular centre plate 24 of a car body 12 is received in the recess 40, the wear liner serving to reduce wear on the peripheral wall 42. The liner is preferably made of a high carbon rolled steel.
