Abstract

1,247,672. Safety harness. TELEFLEX PRODUCTS Ltd. 28 Oct., 1968 [27 Oct., 1967], No. 48982/67. Heading A3V. In combination with a safety harness reel 11 for a motor car, a guide or fairlead 16 is provided for the strap 23, the guide being oblique to the axis 22 of the reel whereby the strap can follow a path beyond the guide 16 that is slantwise with respect to the axis 22. The extremities 17 of the guide are secured to the reel frame 12 by welding. The reel, which may be an inertia reel, is mounted low down at the side of the motor car with its axis 22 extending fore-and-aft and the. strap 23 leads in a slant path to a pillar loop (not shown) higher up the side of the vehicle and runs down across the wearer's body. A forward slant path can be accomodated by reversing the obliquity of the guide 16 which may be alternatively a twisted funnel. The guide 16 may be mounted on a separate member at some point vertically above the reel. The pillar loop may be provided on a universal mounting.
