A moulding composition is prepared by incor-. porating carbon filaments in a liquid mixture of a thermosetting resin, spreading the mixture to enable the resin to cure to an intermediate curing stage and grinding the product to form the moulding composition. The resin may be a phenolic or epoxy resin and the composition may contain a curing agent. The fibres may have been carbonised at > 1000‹ C. and/or graphitized at > 2000‹ C.; they may be prepared from polyacrylonitrile.
