Abstract

1,246,971. Tamper-proof closures. JOHNSEN & JORGENSEN (TRIDENT) Ltd. 14 Nov., 1968 [17 Oct., 1967; 27 March, 1968], Nos. 47251/67 and 14760/68. Heading B8T. A tamper-proof container and closure consists of a seam-free container 4 having an annular projection 7 and a preferably plastics closure 1 comprising a cap portion 2 and a detachable band 3. A tab 10 connected to the band 3 is provided in an opening 9. A line of weakening 8 extends around the closure and is engaged by the projection 7 to retain the closure, whilst a second line of weakening 11 extends only part way around before turning downwards to the lower edge of the band, Fig. 4 (not shown). After initial removal, the cap portion can be used to reseal the container since sealing is by bead 14 co-operating with surface 5. In a modification the lower part of the closure may slope inwards. The container is manufactured either from a thermoplastics material by injection moulding in a two-piece mould, or from a metal, e.g. aluminium, by a simple stamping operation.
