Abstract
1,246,115. Open end spinning. MASCHINENFABRIK RIETER A.G. 18 Sept., 1968 [27 Sept., 1967], No. 44264/68. Heading D1D. An open end spinning rotor open on the side through which the fibre feed enters has means for evacuating air therefrom arranged on the rotor and spaced from the fibre collecting surface and from the path of fibre feed from feed inlet to the collecting surface. As shown the rotor has an upwardly extending flange 23 into which a correspondingly shaped projection on the cover fits with a small clearance. The projection is formed with a helical slot 22 which so combines with the adjacent flange on the rotor as to evacuate the rotor. Flange 23 and the projection are cone-shaped so that vertical adjustment of the projection by a screw ring 25 adjusts the separation of flange and projection. In Fig. 6 not shown a fin is provided on the projection. In Fig. 9 not shown the outside surface of an upwardly cone shaped rotor flange is closely approached by a correspondingly shaped cover in the surface of which there is a helical groove. In other forms the outside surface of the rotor is provided with radial blades or as in Fig. 7, not shown, a ring (28) which act to expel air from the chamber surrounding the rotor thus evacuating the chamber.
