[Also in Division F2] A cutter roll for slitting paper webs comprises a knife block 12 mounted on a cylinder 1 which can be filled with liquid, F, such as light hydraulic oil, and an adjustable screw-operated plunger 10, 11 for applying pressure to the liquid so as to cause it to expand the cylinder wall into contact with the knife block. The adjustable screw may be replaced by an hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder device.
