Abstract

[Also in Division B3] In an injection moulding or die casting machine having a fixed platen 2 and a movable platen 4 (carrying mould parts 5a, 5b respectively) the movable platen is carried on columns 3 which are releasably secured to the fixed platen by nuts 8 screwed on the threaded column ends. -Axial movement of the columns is restricted by clamping plates 10 held to the platen 2 by bolts 11. Rotation of the columns is prevented-by keys 9 and bending stresses in the columns are compensated by providing narrowed portions 12. Accurate location of the columns in the fixed platen is obtained using key -plates (14) and scales (13) on the fixed platen. The key-plates can also lock the nuts 8.
