Abstract
1,245,514. Multiple axle suspensions. S. MOHL. 30 April, 1969 [8 May, 1968] No. 22128/69. Heading B7D. The distribution of load on a vehicle's axles is maintained substantially constant on uneven surfaces by a spring suspension arrangement in which (Fig. 1) a primary spring 3 extending beyond two axles is pivoted to the frame at 6 and slidably mounted at 8, and is directly supported on one axle 11. The second axle 11 supports a secondary spring 4 pivoted to the frame at 4 and slidably supporting the end of spring 3 at 18. A three-axle arrangement (Fig. 2) has a central axle directly supporting the primary spring 3 which is rotatably fixed to the frame at 13 and slidably supports it at 15. Secondary springs 4 carried by the outer axles are pivoted to the frame at 16 and slidably support the ends of spring 3 at 18. The loads on the springs may be distributed by shaped rigid blocks or additional leaves 5, 5<SP>1</SP>.
