Abstract

1,245,277. Diaphragm pumps. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd. Oct.24, 1968 [Oct.24, 1967], No. 50482/68. Heading F1N. [Also in Division G5] A diaphragm pump for supplying air to an air bearing for a gramaphone turn-table (see Division G5) comprises an electromagnet 90 supplied from an A.C. source which co-operates with a permanent magnet 92 to oscillate an arm 94 about a bearing 126 and a rubber diaphragm 96 attached to the arm 94 which on movement of the arm to the left draws air into the pump via flap valve 102 and on movement of the arm to the right expels the air in the pump via flap valve 104 to air reservoir 174. The air from the reservoir is passed via resilient tube 180 to an outlet incorporating a throttle orifice device 190 which assists in smoothing the air supply pulsations.
