Abstract

1,245,038. Knives; handles. NIPPON TENSHASHI K.K. 29 May, 1969 [24 July, 1968], No. 27350/69. Headings B4B and B4K. A cutting device comprises a blade 1 slidably mounted within a body 4 and adapted to be clamped in a plurality of positions therein by means 7, 11, the blade having a number of break lines 2 so as to enable successive portions of the blade to be broken off. The blade 1 is supported in a member 6 which is slidable in a T-slot 5 formed in the body 4 which is made from a plastics material. The blade is provided with a hole 9 which engages with a projection 8 on a clamping member 7. A locking screw 11 is screwed through the clamping member so that when the screw is tightened the blade together with the member 6 is locked in the body 4. A spring clip is formed on the clamping member in order to prevent the cutting edge 3 from contacting the member 6 during adjustment. A cover-plate 14 is clipped to the body 4 so as to define a chamber 13 in which a spare blade can be stored; the cover-plate is locked to the body by a latch device (18, 19, Fig. 6) engaging with a notch (21, Fig. 7) in the body.
