Abstract

1,244,901. Electro-photographic apparatus. TOKYO SHIBAURA ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Jan. 15, 1969 [Jan.18, 1968; Feb.13, 1968; March 25, 1968], No.2399/69. Heading G2H. Residual toner present on a recording surface 10b after transfer of a developed image is removed by a wiper 25 in the form of a liquid absorbing soft body comprising internal pores or recesses sweeping the recording surface in a direction opposite to the movement of the recording surface, the apparatus further comprising a nozzle 33 for supplying a liquid cleaner to the wiper, a vessel 26 for storing the liquid cleaner discharged from the nozzle and in which an amount of the toner deposited on the wiper is dispersed, a pump 30 for circulating the liquid cleaner to supply it to the nozzle, and a filter 37 for removing the toner dispersed in the liquid cleaner. The wiper is a rotary brush 23 having a number of short hairy elements on its circumference as shown, alternatively the wiper is a liquid absorbing beltlike soft material extending over a plurality of rollers Fig. 4 (not shown), or liquid absorbing soft material disposed on the circumference of a rotatable shaft. The soft liquid absorbing material has pressing means (43) Fig. 3, and (47) Fig. 4, for squeezing the material. The filter consists of porous dielectric material 37 sandwiched between electrodes 35, 36. The toner is applied to the recording medium as either a powder or liquid developer.
