Abstract
1,244,725. Valves. OSMA PLASTICS Ltd. 11 Sept., 1968 [30 Nov., 1967], No. 54546/67. Heading F2V. [Also in Division F4] A valve, which may be used to control flow in the ventilation duct of a building, comprises a closure member 3 movable upon rotation towards and away from a seat 9, a locking member 4 rotatably fast with the closure member and engageable with an anchorage 11A rotatably fast with respect to the valve seat, and a removable cap 5 shielding the locking member from view and preventing access thereto. To adjust the closure member, the cap 5, which may be of polypropylene, is snapped out of engagement with a lug 24 and the member 4 withdrawn to permit the closure member 3 to be rotated on a threaded shank 12 until the clearance 17 is at the required value. The member 4 may be of polythene and have a shank 19 of square cross-section to engage complementary portions of the closure member and the anchorage 11A. Four radial webs 11 connect the latter to a polyvinylchloride body 2 which may be mounted on a wall 7 and sealed thereto by a neoprene gasket 8. A flanged fitting (26, Fig. 3) may be used to enable the valve to be connected to a vent pipe of polyvinylchloride (31) or of steel or asbestos (33).
