Abstract

1,244,638. Rail vehicle service couplings. GERMANY, MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT. 6 Sept., 1968, No. 42538/68. Heading B7T. An arrangement for the simultaneous closure of the air pipe lines of a locomotive and coupled vehicle comprises a cylinder 6 operated from the locomotive driver's cab to shut-off the locomotive air line valves, said cylinder being connected by a shaft 5 and cable 3 to a pulley 4 rotatable on an axle of a housing 13, the housing having axially movable therein, against a spring 7, a member 10 which when turned by cable 3 transmits this motion to a corresponding arrangement on the coupled vehicle to actuate the air line valve thereof. Member 10 is located by a pin-and-slot coupling 14, 15 and is formed with a claw-shaped end to facilitate engagement with the corresponding member of the coupled vehicle. Housing 13 is mounted in a forked member 12 suspended from a central buffer coupling 11, the housing being rotatable about a horizontal axis and the member 12 about a vertical axis. The latter movement is limited by a pin 9 and recessed washer 8.
