Abstract

1,244,625. Mixing apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 31 Oct., 1968 [1 Nov., 1967], No. 51580/68. Heading D1C. Mixing apparatus for blending viscous fluids comprises a chamber 10 provided with inlets 22 and an outlet 24 angularly displaced from each other about the periphery of the chamber, an impeller 26 rotatably mounted in the chamber, the impeller having at least two axially spaced blades or sets of blades 30, 32, each blade having a pitch which varies from its root to its outer tip, and fixed blades 34 extending radially inwardly from the inner surface of the chamber between the axially spaced blades. The inlets and outlet preferably extend into and from the chamber between the axially spaced impeller blades. The latter may be arranged such that the roots thereof lie in a common diametral plane of the hub 28. The tips of one set of blades 30 may lead the roots thereof, and the tips of the other set of blades 32 may trail the roots thereof, as shown.
