Abstract
1,243,826. Slip couplings. JAMES A. JOBLING & CO. Ltd. 25 Sept. 1969 [11 Oct. 1968], No. 48368/68. Heading F2U. An adjustable slip coupling comprises a hollow cylinder 1, which may be of glass and whose interior surface is engaged by a radially expansible fluid pressure operated hollow piston 5 preferably of polytetrafluoroethylene. One end plato 4 of the piston is integral with the body portion, the other plate 7 being axially movable relative to the cylinder body by an adjusting rod 10 to vary the pressure of fluid in cylinder 5. Seals 8, 12, 15 are provided between the movable members and a charging opening in end wall 7 is closed by a screw plug 13. The piston 5 is connected to its associated coupled member by a pair of axial drive pins 3.
