Abstract
1,242,644. Fluid regulation. AVIATION SUPPLY, MINISTER OF. Feb. 19, 1970 [Feb. 20, 1969], No.9251/69. Heading G3H. A fluid-flow control device comprises a cylindrical casing 1, a coaxial outlet 4 depending from one end of the casing 1, and a radially directed inlet 2 of rectangular section extending into the casing side-wall, the connection between the inlet 2 and the casing 1 being effected by a continuously curved surface in which a plurality of bleed orifices 3 are formed. Such orifices are in communication with a suction duct 10 the degree of suction in which is controlled by a valve, (not shown). The presence of suction in duct 10 causes the purely radial flow, indicated by arrows A to spiral around the chamber as indicated by arrows 6. The outlet connection 4 may have leading thereinto a plurality of pipes (8), Fig. 3 (not shown), extending from a common manifold (9) such pipes supplying combustion fuel which is atomized by air passing, in a controlled manner, through the device and into the outlet. In a modification, the inlet 2 may be disposed at an angle to the radius at the point of connection with the casing.
