Abstract

1,242,524. Cooling electric motors. STANDARD MAGNET A.G. 12 Aug., 1968 [6 Sept., 1967], No. 40756/67. Heading H2A. A motor 1 is enclosed in a cylindrical housing 6 which is extended to enclose a fan 2 mounted on motor shaft 3. The motor is sealed from the fan compartment and is cooled by air being drawn in through radial slots 10 and expelled through slots 11 to flow in a helical path 17 along the outside of housing 6. The slots 11 are formed by punching part of the housing into the fan compartment so that there are no projections from the housing. The motor is used to drive a pump which is attached to the end of the motor by a cap screw 5.
