Abstract
1,241,457. Propeller blades. AVIATION SUPPLY, MINISTER OF. 24 Nov., 1969 [14 Dec., 1968], No. 59583/68. Heading B7V. [Also in Division F2] A propeller blade 1 has four spanwise extending apertures 7, 8, 9, 10 formed in its surface and fluid is supplied to the apertures for discharge from them as thin layers tangentially over the blade surface towards the trailing edge P of the blade. The pair of apertures 7, 8 is located at one side of the trailing edge and the other pair 9, 10 at the other side. The circumferential displacement of the apertures of pair 7, 8 around the blade section relative to the trailing edge differs from that of the other pair. The blade shown is a cylindrical shell of circular cross-section. In other embodiments the blade may have a tip portion of reduced cross-section.
