Abstract

1,241,345. Lids. METAL SPINNERS (IRELAND) Ltd. 15 June, 1970 [13 June, 1969], No. 30036/69. Heading A4A. A lid for a kettle or a cooking vessel comprises a generally domed circular disc 1 extending laterally beyond a downwardly depending skirt 2, wherein a portion of the skirt is flattened as at 4 and the adjacent portion 5 of the periphery of the disc 1 is raised. The upper part 6 of the flattened skirt portion is outwardly inclined to meet the raised periphery of the lid. There will thus be formed a passage 10 between the lid and the kettle wall 8 whereby steam may escape, and droplets of moisture which are deposited on the inclined part 6 will drain back into the kettle.
