Abstract

1,241,093. Conveyer systems. A. FREEMAN. 7 Feb., 1969, No. 6704/69. Heading B7L. A conveyer, e.g. for shoe components comprises carriers 2 movable along a track 1 by a reciprocating toothed band 6, each carrier having means for disengageable coupling with the band and a device for operating this means upon encroachment on a preceding carrier, a collapsible drag link between each carrier and the next, allowing lost motion therebetween, and a stop 36 on the track for operating the disengageable coupling means of a carrier to cause that carrier and, therefore, following carriers to come to rest, preceding carriers pulling the leading stationary carrier past the stop 36 when the lost motion has been taken up. The toothed band 6 engages a pivoted plate 23 to drive the carrier, the plate 23 being mounted on a strip 20 pivoted at the rear axle 19. A tongue 20a of that strip engages a lip 27 on the body of the preceding carrier to lift the pivoted plate 23 out of engagement with the band 6. Such disengagement is also produced by a projection 26 at the side of the strip 20 encountering the stop 36. By tilting of the carrier when it is unloaded the plate 23 may also be disengaged from the band 6. A switch may be mounted on the track and operated by a passing carrier to stop the drive motor 12 and start a timer to re-start the motor after a pre-set interval.
