Abstract

1,240,942. Rotary ball valves. P. R. BROEN, and B. BROEN. 25 Aug., 1969 [29 Aug., 1968], No. 42257/69. Heading F2V. A ball I is introduced through the outlet (or inlet) opening 4 of a one-piece housing 5 and is provided, on the side of the housing opposite an operating spindle projecting through a lateral housing opening, with a pin-and-slot stop arrangement. As shown the pin 21 which is eccentric to the axis of rotation of the ball moves in a slot 18 having a part-circular section open to the opening 4 and which is formed by inserting an end mill 19 through the lateral opening. Alternatively the slot may be formed by inserting a slotting tool through the opening 4. In another embodiment the pin is mounted eccentrically in the housing and an open ended slot is formed in the ball perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
