Abstract

1,240,761. Knitting-machines. WILDT MELLOR BROMLEY Ltd. 23 April, 1970 [10 May, 1969], No. 23910/69. Heading D1C. A pattern mechanism for selecting needle jacks having a sprung extension 16c and an associated presser 18 comprises a cam 22 for pushing the tops of the pressers onto a magnetic device md where they are temporarily held, but selectively released by a stack of selectors PU. The mechanism is applicable to flat or circular machines. The magnetic device comprises a permanent or electromagnet 26 and two pole pieces which sandwich non-magnetic material 29 which holds the presser tops just clear of the pole pieces. The stack of selectors may comprise rotary members 33 movable towards and away from the pressers and having butts for action thereon, and generally similar to that described in Specification 940,442. Alternatively the stack comprises pivoted selectors maintained in fixed positions by a key, and acting on single staggered butts on the pressers.
