Abstract

1,240,548. Specimen mounting. R. L. BISHTON. July 3, 1969 [July 24, 1968], No.35247/68. Heading G2J. Biological sections are mounted on a transparent cine film or tape by first applying the sections to the surface of an adhesive tape, pressing the adhesive tape against the cine film or tape and then removing the adhesive tape. The specimen block 1 is sliced by a microtome 11 and a pressure roller 7 brings the adhesive tape 5 into contact with the sections 22 produced. A control shaft 18 operates a sprocket feed roller 10 and cams on the shaft operate mechanisms 19, 20 to drive the microtome and to raise the specimen support. A non- adhesive tape from the reel 9 may be interwoven with the adhesive tape 5. The apparatus may be adapted for simultaneous use with different specimens.
