Abstract
1,239,545. Temperature-responsive actuating elements. LANDIS & GYR AG. Jan.23, 1970 [Jan.31, 1969], No. 3339/70. Heading G1D. A thermal actuator comprises an evaporating vessel 1 (with a source of heat 7) and a bellowstype container 2 communicating therewith and a source of heat 6 to keep the temperature of the container 2 above that of the vessel 1. The temperature differential ensures that no liquid enters the container 2 through the communicating tube 3 whose upper end, Fig. 2 (not shown), may form the evaporating vessel 1. The heater 6 may be fed with constant power or through control means 8 in series or in parallel with an element 4 heating the vessel 1. Operation of the actuator is independent of its attitude.
