Abstract

The longwall, looped cutter chain, mineralmining installation of Specification 1,116,503 is modified in that angular adjustment of the floor-positioned guide 9 for the lower run of the cutter chain of the installation about the longitudinal axis of the guide and of maintenance of pressure to bias the guide down against a mine floor is now obtained by mounting the guide on the face ends of plates 135 having at their waste ends upturned portions 136 that are disposed in front of associated props 39a of roof support frames to which they are connected at points 152 to the rear of the props by resiliently yielding means 15, e.g. fluid-actuated piston cylinder units having appropriately set pressure relief. Preferally the plates 135 are connected to plates 139 secured to the front ends of the floor beams 39 of the roof support frames by vertically adjustable pivots 141. The vertical width of each plate 135 increases uniformly from its face end to the point 149 and then continues to increase uniformly but at a lesser rate to its waste side.
