Abstract

1,238,414. Beverage dispensing apparatus. SOUTHERN INDUSTRIES (CROYDON) Ltd. 2 Jan., 1970 [18 Feb., 1969], No. 8753/69. Heading A4T. A remotely controlled beer keg changeover apparatus has an operating unit 11, 59, Figs 1 and 3, adjacent the kegs, e.g. in a cellar, and a remote control unit 52, e.g. adjacent the dispensing point. The unit 11 has a series of valves 15 with inlets 19 for the pressurized beer from each keg, the valves being opened one at a time by spaced cams 31 on shaft 29 acting on valve buttons 20 to pass beer from a selected inlet 19 via pipes 23, manifold 22 and outlet 26 to a counter dispensing tap. The shaft is rotated stepwise by a solenoid actuator 57, 32 having a pawl and ratchet connection 34 with the shaft which also carries at its other end an outboard manual actuating knob 36 and a rotary switch 35, the switch allowing indicating lamps 39, 58 on the operating unit and 53 on the control unit, corresponding to the keg in use, to be illuminated. A push button switch 51 on the control unit allows the solenoid actuator 57 to be energized.
