Abstract

The mixer tap has separate hot and cold feed lines each controlled by a manually operated inlet valve (9,10) and leading to a common mixing chamber (4). The latter contains an electromagnetic valve controlling the discharge flow, with the solenoid (7) associated with this valve in turn controlled by a mechanical switch (11). Pref. the switch (11) comprises a foot-operated press switch (11) depressed after setting the inlet valves (9,10) to allow the discharge valve to be opened, with warm water continuing to be discharged as long as the switch remains depressed. A control knob (8) can pref. be depressed or rotated to override the electromagnet and hold the discharge valve in the open position.
