1300383 Liquid dispenser apparatus T P PRIESTLEY 19 Jan 1970 [24 Oct 1968 3 Sept 1969] 50469/68 and 43620/69 Heading A4T Apparatus for dispensing, e.g. beer, comprises valve mechanism 23 whereby one of two or more kegs 3, 3a is connected for dispensing at 15, and when the first keg is empty, as detected by increase of resistance between probes 59 leading to an amplifier and trigger circuit controlling a rotary solenoid 53 for rotating valve operating cams 49a, 49b on shaft 47, ball valve 39a is automatically closed to prevent gas pressure at 37 from bottles 83 or 85 passing into the top of keg 33a at 43a and valve 39b is opened to allow the pressure to act at the top of second keg 33b and pass via pipe 29b, check valve 27b, and outlet 21 to the dispensing point 15. The change-over between a plurality of kegs e.g. six, occurs automatically as casks are emptied. Six rotary switches, two 45a, 45b being shown are mounted on shaft 47 and through circuitry are connected to three rows of six lamps indicating which kegs are full, in use or empty. The circuitry includes a bar start switch and a bar switch where by the shaft 47 is rotated to select a required keg. Shaft 47 has a manual knob 73 whereby pressure may be applied to any keg to condition the contents. Conditioning pressure may also be applied manually by a lever catch released by the valve operating cam or manually by a bar switch operating a rotary switch, the valve arrangement having additional camoperative valves such that a keg is not available at the bar during conditioning. Gas bottles 83, 85 may also change over automatically via circuitry Rb acting on valves 83b, 85b. There may be a probe or float switch in each keg and the kegs may have pressurised plastic liners.
