Abstract
1,237,071. Speed governors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. July 18, 1968. [May 3, 1967], No.20551/67. Heading G3B. Apparatus for controlling the speed of a gas turbine engine having a governor m to actuate a sleeve valve h for controlling the flow of fuel from a pump a to the engine via outlet d, comprises a spring 10 against which the governor m reacts by means of a yoke 9 pivotally connected to the valve 2 at h, and manually operable means to vary the action of the spring to alter the speed of governing, including a lever 13, a pilot operated cam 15, bearing against the lever, the lever 13 being fulcrummed on a roller 16 on a lever 17 which can be adjusted to vary the action of the spring for any setting of the cam. The lever 17 is pivotally mounted at 18 on one arm of a bell crank lever 19, which is pivotally mounted at 20 and can be angularly adjusted by an idling screw 22. The end of the lever 17 remote from the roller 16 embraces a roller 23 on a three armed lever 24 pivotally mounted at 25 on a fulcrum piece 26 adjustable by a maximum speed setting screw 27. A second arm of lever 24 bears on a spring 28, which bears on a lever 29 mounted on a fixed pivot 30, and carries a roller 31 bearing on the cam 15. The third arm of lever 24 bears against an excess fuel cam 33, which can be adjusted by the pilot or the engine jet pipe temperature. A further sleeve valve j mounted coaxially with the valve h is controlled by a governor l.
