Abstract

1,237,058. Jointing by tube expanding. CANADIAN SAFETY FUSE CO. Ltd. 5 May, 1970 [6 May, 1969], No. 21469/70. Heading B3J. [Also in Divisions F2 and F3] A method of expanding a cold drawn steel alloy tube within a tube sheet where the tube apertures are of stepped, tapered or uneven configuration, comprises placing a detonating cord having alternating regions of lesser and greater potential explosive energy within the tube, whereby the tube is formed with corresponding regions of lesser and greater diameter upon detonating the cord. The space between the inner wall of the tube and the cord is filled with water. The cord can also be used for expanding tubes by the method disclosed in U.S. Specification 3,411,198.
