Abstract

1,237,041. Knitting. D. FRISHMAN and G. R. CLYMAN. 15 May, 1969, No. 24770/ 69. Headings D1C and D1K. A four feeder circular knitting-machine for producing a high pile fabric has a carding unit at each feeding station, two opposed carding units being operated to feed fibres in a continuous manner to the needles of the machine to form the base of the high pile whilst the carding units of the other two opposed carding units are operated intermittently to feed fibres of a contrasting nature to selected needles whereby a pattern effect is achieved. Each time the intermittently operated carding units function to feed their fibres, a needle cam is brought into operation to raise the needles to knitting height and cause them to knit. The units and stitch cams are controlled by a timing control unit in a predetermined manner.
