Abstract
1,236,470. Protective garments. FRANKENSTEIN GROUP Ltd. 9 Jan., 1970 [31 Dec., 1968], No. 61855/68. Heading A3V. A protective garment, for protecting a wearer against personal exposure and in particular for reducing radiative heat loss, comprises a pullover-type garment, of lightweight plastics film material, with an elongated body C, a hood F and sleeves D, and preferably a bag or bags H for covering the legs of the wearer and formed of the same material, the plastics film being metallised on its inner surface and 0.0005 to 0.001 inch thick or alternatively the garment being of double-skin construction with two layers A1 and A2 to provide for still air heat insulation. The garment may be formed from two identical aluminised panels A, marginally united by an adhesive strip B, cementing or heat fusion, and have straight seams and be wide in girth to prevent tearing when being donned. The body C may be rolled up to hip level, as at G, in stowage, and the sleeves D may be similarly shortened. The garment may be constricted into contact with bags H by tapes K housed in pocket L. In the doubleskin construction the layers may be provided with a quilted effect as in Fig. 2, with tongues M being doubled back to provide oral inflation non-return valves.
