Abstract
1,236,037. Fluid pressure servomotor systems. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Nov.28, 1968 [Dec.3, 1968], No.57258/68. Heading G3P. A pilot actuated valve for controlling flow in a steam line is totally enclosed within a section 2 of the line. The valve has a main closure member 5 moved by a piston 6 when pilot valve 9 is opened by pressure supplied to its actuating chamber 22B thereby permitting upstream pressure in chamber 15A to be vented through chamber 15B and conduit 31-33. The arrangement being such that the degree of movement of closure member 5 is proportional to the pressure applied to chamber 22B through control inlet 29. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates a modification in which the pilot valve seats in the main closure member. The valve may be used to control admission of steam to a turbine by operating a control valve Fig. 3 (not shown) feeding in inlet 29 in accordance with a signal derived by comparing a speed responsive signal with a signal dependent on the position of the main closure member.
